Hey it’s Rodric!
In a recent interview (link at bottom), I shared this mindset shift and know you’ll find it useful as well – if you’re in sales of any kind that is.
And we all are…
Selling your spouse on going on a trip, selling your boss on a promotion, selling real estate, selling you on reading the rest of this blog… we are all in some form of sales.
Today, I want to dive deep into a simple mental hack that has the potential to transform your approach to sales. It’s a shift from “selling” to believing, a shift that can ignite your passion for sales and propel you toward your sales goals with unwavering confidence.
Let me share with you five powerful ways to make this transformation:
1. Deeply Believe in Your Product:
Believing in your product is crucial. If you sincerely believe that your product is the best solution for your customers, then selling becomes unnecessary. In fact, it would be a disservice to your customers if you don’t share the incredible value you bring to the table. Your genuine belief becomes contagious and customers are drawn to your authenticity. You don’t want them to get shoddy service from your competitor… do you?
Note: this alone is the most important shift. So how do we build that confidence?
2. Focus on Problem-Solving:
Shift your perspective from “making a sale” to “solving a problem.” When you approach sales with the mindset of helping your customers overcome challenges or meet their needs, it changes the entire conversation. You become a trusted advisor, not just a salesperson.
3. Passion Breeds Conviction:
Passion is magnetic. When you’re genuinely passionate about what you offer, it shines through in your interactions. Your enthusiasm becomes contagious, and customers are more likely to believe in your product because they see your unwavering belief.
4. Educate and Empower:
Instead of pushing your product, focus on educating your customers. Empower them with knowledge and insights that enable them to make informed decisions. When you position yourself as a valuable resource, sales naturally follow.
5. Love the Process:
Embrace sales as a journey, not a destination. Love the process of connecting with people, understanding their needs, and finding solutions. When you enjoy the journey, the end result becomes even more satisfying.
Like I said, these are simple shifts, but not always easy to implement day in and day out.
You may even “know” them already. But as a mentor of mine used to say, “You may understand something, a concept, a system, etc, but if it’s something that will improve your life and you’re not doing it every…single…day… you don’t know it.”
See you on the journey…
Rodric
